Overview
The Panamera has proved that a Porsche with four doors is still a Porsche. As the brand's fastback sedan evolves into its third generation, it's staying true to its sporty mission. A turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 engine makes 348 horsepower and is hooked up to an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Base Panameras are rear-wheel drive but the Panamera 4 features all-wheel drive and an estimated 60 mph time of 4.7 seconds. There are also 4 E-Hybrid and 4S E-Hybrid models making 463 and 536 horsepower, respectively. A more powerful Turbo E-Hybrid plug-in model is also offered, but we review that model separately. Inside, the Panamera's cabin can be ordered stripped-down to basics or loaded with luxury flair. A host of displays on the dashboard provide perhaps too much access to the digital world. Tech heads will surely love it, but Porsche purists may find it a bit much. But the Panamera's real draw is its rear seat and cargo space, which allow it to do double duty as a family sedan.

The Panamera has been redesigned for 2024 with updated styling, new technology features, revised powertrains, and improved chassis components.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2024 Porsche Panamera starts at $101,550 and goes up to $128,795 depending on the trim and options.
We'd recommend sticking with the base rear-wheel-drive Panamera and investing in some decent winter tires if you need to venture out in the snow. We'd instead use that $7000 in savings to spring for the available Premium package, which adds fancier LED headlamps, lane-keeping assist, a 14-speaker Bose stereo, a 360-degree exterior camera system, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and four-zone automatic climate control. Otherwise, the rest of the options available on the Panamera are mostly offered à la carte rather than in bundled packages so you can customize your car to your exact needs.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Under the hood of the Panamera and Panamera 4 is a turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 with 348 horsepower. Both come with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, but only the 4 comes with all-wheel drive; the base model is rear-wheel drive. Porsche says the base model is good for a 5.0-second run to 60 mph while the 4 should get there in 4.7 seconds. The E-Hybrid models come with the same turbocharged 2.9-liter V-6 but add electric motors to the mix to boost combined horsepower. In the 4 E-Hybrid, this setup pumps out 463 horsepower, while in the 4S E-Hybrid, it makes 536 horsepower. Porsche says that the 4S can hit 60 mph in as little as 3.5 seconds. When we get a chance, we'll test that for ourselves and update this story with test results and driving impressions. All models come with an adaptive air-spring suspension system; a rear-wheel steering feature is optional.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
EPA estimates for the 2024 Panamera's fuel economy aren't out yet, but last year's model was rated for 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, and the new one should be similar. When we get a chance to test the Panamera models on our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route, we'll update this story with the results. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The cabin of the Panamera can be set up to seat four or five, with either rear bucket seats or a bench. Leather upholstery is standard with even fancier hides available to wrap the seats, doors, dashboard, and steering wheel should you want to splurge. The front seats are power-adjustable and either come with a comfort-oriented design or a sport-oriented one with adaptive elements intended to hold you tighter during spirited driving. Adults should find the rear seat comfortable for long drives so long as there aren't three of them scrunched back there and the Panamera's large trunk provides plenty of space for luggage or a week's worth of groceries.

Infotainment and Connectivity
A 12.6-inch curved digital gauge cluster looks cool behind the steering wheel and complements a 10.9-inch infotainment touchscreen in the center of the dashboard. A second 10.9-inch display is optional for the passenger's side of the dashboard and provides access to more entertainment features. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard across the board, as is a wireless smartphone charging pad. A 14-speaker Bose stereo is available, or you can select a stereo tuned by Burmester with 21 speakers.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
Basic driver-assists such as automated emergency braking are standard on the Panamera, but if you want more advanced tech, such as adaptive cruise control with lane centering, you'll have to pay extra. Key safety features include:
- Standard automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection
- Standard lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist
- Available adaptive cruise control with a lane-centering feature
Warranty and Maintenance Coverage
At four years or 50,000 miles, both Porsche's limited warranty and its powertrain warranty are competitive in this class, and its 24-hour roadside assistance program spans the same amount of time. Porsche also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for a short period, but BMW's program is considerably longer.
