2025 BMW M4 Coupe First Look Review: More CSL In The Normal M4 (2024)

The base BMW M4 Coupe has an MSRP of $79,100 in the USA, while the price of the 2025 BMW M4 Competition Coupe starts at $83,200. The xDrive version of the Competition Coupe will cost $88,300 to start. These prices exclude the $995 destination and handling fee.

Traditional rivals to the M4 Coupe include the Audi RS5 Coupe, which has a starting price of $78,600 for 2024. The RS5 makes 444 hp and 442 lb-ft, quite a bit less than the new BMW M4 Coupe, although it's quicker to 60 mph than the base manual M4 Coupe with a 3.7-second sprint. In the absence of competition from Mercedes-AMG at present, buyers can also look at the Lexus RC F with its 5.0-liter V8 engine putting out 472 hp and getting to 60 mph in 4.2 seconds. With the Track Edition, that time can drop to under four seconds, which is closer to the M4 Competition's sprint time - but the RC F Track Edition will cost you over $100k. The base RC F goes on sale for $68,295, all in, for 2024.

Although the attention-grabbing and controversial grille remains unchanged, there are some exterior changes to the BMW M4 Coupe for 2025. Starting with new exterior lighting designs, the headlights are modernized with a more distinctive structure and enhanced functionality. There are two vertical LED units in a fresh arrowhead shape that function as DRLs and turn signals.

At the rear, the LED taillights feature laser technology and a new design. Inside the cluster, laser diodes light up glass fiber bundles to create a 3D light graphic to complement the main taillights. This technology was first seen on the BMW M4 CSL. Competition models also get a newly designed BMW roundel and M badge, with the former now being surrounded in high gloss black, and the latter outlined in silver.

New customization options include optional M design graphics for the hood and trunk lid in high gloss black or high gloss red. A steel roof can be optioned at no extra cost and comes with a glass sliding roof, and when buyers select the graphics pack and steel roof together, the roof is finished in high gloss black.

The BMW M4 Coupe comes with staggered wheel sizes, with 18-inch M forged light-alloy wheels in front and 19-inch items at the rear. Competition spec models get 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, which can be optioned onto the base model, too. A new bright silver design has been added for 2025. As for colors for the new M4 Coupe, BMW hasn't mentioned any changes or additions yet.

There are no changes to the dimensions of the new BMW M4 Coupe, so the 112.5-inch wheelbase carries over, as does the 189.1-inch length, and 74.3-inch width. There's a small difference in height between the RWD and AWD models, with the former standing 54.8 inches tall and the latter's height being 54.9 inches.

Curb weight figures are lowest in the base M4 Coupe, which tips the scale at 3,830 pounds. The M4 Competition is slightly heavier at 3,880 lbs, and the Competition xDrive tops out at 3,979 lbs.

There are no changes to the engine in the BMW M4 Coupe, although performance specs at the top-end of the range have been tweaked a little. Where the outgoing M4 topped out at 503 hp in Competition spec, the new BMW M4 Competition has 20 hp more to play with. This means the familiar BMW engine in the 2025 M4 Coupe lineup has three output levels.

The base M4 Coupe still makes 473 hp and 406 lb-ft for the rear wheels from the 3.0-liter inline-six engine. It comes with a six-speed manual transmission, as before. The M4 Competition variant ups the outputs to 503 hp and 479 lb-ft with an eight-speed automatic feeding power to the rear wheels. The Competition xDrive gets a bit of a boost for 2025, with 523 hp to unleash at all four corners, although torque stays the same. Despite the bump in power, the BMW M4 Competition xDrive still does the 0-60 mph sprint in 3.4 seconds. The RWD Competition needs four-tenths longer, while the base M4 Coupe does the sprint in 4.1 seconds.

Top speed hasn't changed, with all models able to reach 155 mph, or 180 mph when equipped with the optional M Driver's Package.

Although the interior of the BMW M4 remains fundamentally the same, the steering wheel has been redesigned. The wheel is standard M leather with a flat bottom, modified spokes, and a red 12 o'clock marker. Buyers can also tick the box for an M Alcantara steering wheel for the first time, and heating is available for both options.

Also new for 2025 is the Dark Graphite matte trim around the dashboard, control panel, and cupholder covers, and this can be switched out for a new polished aluminum option, too. The Sensatec dash covering is still available, but it's been refined to feel even more plush than before.

Although the BMW Curved Display with configurable 12.3- and 14.9-inch displays isn't new, the new models come with updated software, now using iDrive 8.5. There's also a new interface for the three-zone climate control - it gets a dedicated menu at the bottom of the control display. This reduces the number of buttons in the co*ckpit. The new M4 Coupe lineup also gets new HVAC toggles and ambient lighting integrated into the air vent surrounds.

No mention has been made of changes to the materials used inside the M4 Coupe, so the same options should apply. This means extended Merino leather, with the option to switch to full Merino leather. Ventilation is an optional extra for the front seats. The upgrade to M Carbon Buckets Seats in the BMW M4 Coupe should also still be available for those who want to ensure they're securely held in place while using the car the way it was intended.
