Yamaha

Yamaha isn’t generally known for its cars and mostly sells motorcycles and water vehicles today (and pianos, strangely?). Still, they did have a stint where they did make a few cars, although none of them were produced on a large scale.

One of the most notable models includes the OX99-11, a car that was technically released by Toyota, but Yamaha made almost all of the parts, including the engine. Additionally, Yamaha has partnered with a few other manufacturers to release cars, with examples including the 2000GT, Ford Taurus SHO, and Volvo XC90 V8.

Yaris

The young yogi accelerated the yellow Yaris along a yawningly winding road, feeling the yank of the wheel with each turn.

The Yaris is a supermini car model sold by Toyota that was initially released back in 1999. Since its initial launch, the Yaris has had multiple names, although the original model that the new ones are built on was simply called the Toyota Yarisu, or Toyota Yaris for the English-speaking world.

Offshoots of the Yaris include the Vitz, POlatz, Echo, Belta, Vios, Charade, iA, and Mazda2 Hybrid, plus a few other more direct releases, including the Yaris Verso mini MPV and Yaris Cross. Recently, Toyota even released the FR Yaris, which is a three-door version that is primarily built for performance rally car racing.

The Škoda Yeti is a mid-size crossover SUV produced by Czech automaker Škoda Auto, introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005 as a prototype. The car was released with moderate success and ended up winning the Family Car of the Year by Top Gear Magazine, despite being the first car to ever be released by the company.

Other models have since been released, with notable examples being the Chinese version (featuring a tire mount on the rear) and a new successor known as the Karoq, which was released in 2017.

Yenko

The Yenko Camaro is a high-performance muscle car produced by Chevrolet in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The car was modified by the Pennsylvania-based Yenko Chevrolet dealership owned by Don Yenko.

Yenko’s modifications kept it from performing well against certain cars due to certain GM limits, but modifications transformed the Camaro into a street-legal racing car.

The Yenko Camaro is highly sought after by collectors today, with only 54 models from 1967 being made. The current value for the Yenko is floating around $295,625, showing just how collectible it really is.

Yes!

Yes! is a car manufacturer whose name stands for Young Engineers Sportscar, abbreviated to Yes! or YES! The brand is based out of Germany. Oliver Schweizer, a sports car designer, began working on the company’s first car in 1997 and finished the first prototype in 1998, before the company was created.

A year later, Herbert Funke and Philipp established Funke & Will Automotive Engineering GmbH in Rheinbach, near Bonn, which would later be referred to as Yes!, the company. The first car released was the Yes! Roadster, with the second model being the Yes! Roadster 3.2 in 2006.

The car was produced in 2008 through various models and names, including US, European, and Latin American versions. The Yugo eventually established its own minor cult following, even though it was known for its safety and reliability issues.

YRV

TheDaihatsu YRV was a mini multi-purpose vehicle that was produced in Japan from 2000 to 2005. Its extremely small size but relative usefulness (from its 4-wheel drive and interior cargo space) made it popular for the company. There were a few versions that were released over the years, including manual and supercharged versions for various markets.
